First Time Conference Champions In New Conferences
While it doesn’t happen often, first time conference goers have won conference championships in their first seasons before. In more recent years, in 2013, the UCF Knights went from Conference USA to the American Athletic Conference and they won the conference title.
In 2023, the Liberty Flames went from being an FBS Independent to Conference USA and they won their conference at the time.
Some examples of first time Power Conference champions in their first year both come in the ACC with Florida State in 1992 and Virginia Tech in 2004.
