Best Bets For Northern Illinois Vs. Fresno State Idaho Potato Bowl

  • Cam Thompson’s odds for total receiving yards are set at 40.5 yards.
  • Bryson Donelson has a 55.5 rushing yard total.

BOISE, Idaho – We’ll see a MAC vs. Mountain West matchup in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in Boise between the Northern Illinois Huskies and Fresno State Bulldogs.

While there is uncertainty on the betting line with plenty of opt outs in this game, bettors can look to who is playing and find some tremendous value on college football prop betting sites for specific players. Cam Thompson and Bryson Donelson are both names to watch.

Take Cam Thompson’s Receiving Yards

Cam Thompson Total Receiving Yards

  • Over 40.5 -115
  • Under 40.5 -115

Yes, Northern Illinois is losing plenty of depth in this one, but it leaves Thompson as a bright spot on the offense where he could see plenty of targets. Fellow starting receiver, Trayvon Rudolph, won’t be playing here which opens up more opportunities for the sophomore receiver.

Also, while many might see starting QB, Ethan Hampton’s absence as a negative, there is reason to believe Thompson could thrive with Josh Holst under center. That comes as in the only game that Holst started this season against Toledo, Thompson was the beneficiary of dive receptions for 80 yards as he paced all receivers in the game.

Fresno State will also be without two of their starting cornerbacks in this one in Alzillion Hamilton and Julian Neal who combined are responsible for 17 pass deflections and four interceptions.

40.5 yards is also just too low of a number for someone who’s averaging 43.4 yards per game this season.

Fade Bryson Donelson

Bryson Donelson Total Rushing Yards

  • Over 55.5 -115
  • Under 55.5 -115

College football sportsbooks are giving too much credit to an unproven running back on a Fresno State team that will struggle to move the ball without two of their starting receivers and their starting QB.

Donelson has 62 carries on the year for 380 yards in 10 games for an average of just 31.6 yards per game. Starting running back, Elijah Gilliam will also be playing so Donelson might not even get as many opportunities. His usage is already limited having notched eight or less carries in four of the last five games.

One of the most important things to take into consideration here is that Northern Illinois run defense is one of the best in the country allowing the second least rush yards in the MAC at 111.8 yards per game.
