UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – SMU is headed to Happy Valley to take on Penn State in the first round of the College Football Playoff and bettors will find value on different aspects of the game and props for both teams.
Some players to keep an eye on at college football prop betting sites are SMU QB Kevin Jennings and both running backs for Penn State, Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen.
Kevin Jennings Stays Slinging Through CFP
Kevin Jennins Total Passing Yards
- Over 225.5 -120
- Under 225.5 -110
Jennings has been absolutely slinging this season and there is no reason for that to slow down here against Penn State. He’s gone for 225+ yards in nine straight games and has thrown the ball 25+ times in seven of those games including a 50 attempt game in the ACC Championship vs. Clemson where he also posted 304 yards.
Penn State is also coming off of a Big 10 Championship game against Oregon where they allowed Dillon Gabriel to throw for 283 yards on 32 attempts.
Penn State’s run defense is also in the top-10 in the entire country which could force the SMU offense to throw the ball even more and cash his over on college football sportsbooks.
Fade Both Penn State RBs
Nicholas Singleton Total Rushing Yards
- Over 60.5 -115
- Under 60.5 -115
Kaytron Allen Total Rushing Yards
- Over 50.5 -115
- Under 50.5 -115
While these are two of the nation's leading running backs, bettors should be fading them in this one against the number four run defense in the country. SMU has been a menace on the defensive line allowing just 93.4 rush yards per game this season. In their last five games, they’ve allowed just one opposing running back to go over 50 yards.
Also, what SMU thrives in on the run defense, they do lack against the pass as they are in the bottom half of the ACC in pass yards allowed. That said, Drew Allar could be in line to throw more and avoid the heavy run defense.
