UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – SMU is headed to Happy Valley to take on Penn State in the first round of the College Football Playoff and bettors will find value on different aspects of the game and props for both teams.

Penn State is also coming off of a Big 10 Championship game against Oregon where they allowed Dillon Gabriel to throw for 283 yards on 32 attempts.

While these are two of the nation's leading running backs, bettors should be fading them in this one against the number four run defense in the country. SMU has been a menace on the defensive line allowing just 93.4 rush yards per game this season. In their last five games, they’ve allowed just one opposing running back to go over 50 yards.
Also, what SMU thrives in on the run defense, they do lack against the pass as they are in the bottom half of the ACC in pass yards allowed. That said, Drew Allar could be in line to throw more and avoid the heavy run defense.
